Thriving through Covid-19 DIY Hand Sanitizer Recipe

Our motto at Surthrival has always been to thrive through ALL circumstances. Part of thriving through all circumstances means staying adaptable through changing times and always increasing our self-sufficiency aka sovereignty.

Hand sanitizer flying off the shelves during a pandemic isn't really all that surprising. Fear itself spreads like a virus (as we can all see). Operating in proactive mode, we see this as an opportunity to stay adaptable and improve on our self-sufficiency by learning to make our own. DIY is nothing new to the Surthrival staff. We love playing with herbs and plants to make our own remedies.

We're also of the mindset that a strong immune system is our best and strongest defense, kind of a no-brainer right?  We've designed a line of natural supplements — Colostrum, D3+K2, Chaga Extract & Reishi Extract — that support a robust and educated immune system. These immune defense allies are part of our daily routines always, and during this pandemic, we're doubling dosage and fortifying the rest of our self-care regimens as well!

They say "knowledge is power" so we thought sharing this DIY hand sanitizer recipe would be a huge help!  Can't get it at the store? Make your own. It's simple to make, effective, and smells pretty darn good, if we do say so ourselves! It's also made with quality, natural ingredients, many of which you probably already have on hand!

Our secret ingredient is our effective anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal Thriving Healthy Gum Drops made with potent essential oils of rose, peppermint, clove and thyme.  Add your favorite oils to personalize it even more. We'd consider tea tree, eucalyptus and rosemary for their cleansing properties. Add something fun to make it your own!

If you can't find these ingredients remember that a good old hand-washing with a nailbrush (or even your fingernails) will do the trick!  Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday lol! Gotta keep a sense of humor during strange times ;)

p.s. This is a great activity to do alongside your kids during quarantine! Consider it part of your homeschooling activities.

The Recipe:

2/3 cup rubbing alcohol (60% or higher is CDC-recommended)
2 tbsp organic aloe vera or organic glycerin
20 drops Thriving Healthy Gum Drops

Mix all of the ingredients together and bottle! Simple as that! If you have an empty bottle of our Herbal Digestive Bitters around, that makes a perfect spray container for this! You could also use a small travel size container that you may already have on hand.

If you need a comical educational hand-washing video, this is the one!
