SuperCharged Taco & Chili Seasoning

Oh, tacos… We’re hard-pressed to think of a food that is more unanimously loved and more versatile in its preparations…

We spent the first few minutes of a recent team meeting professing our team-wide love for these little envelopes of yummy goodness (like maybe longer than we should have). So yeah, needless to say, we LOVE tacos here at Surthrival!

One of our favorite things about them is how creative you can be with the recipe! For instance, you may have come across one of Daniel Vitalis’ favorite taco recipes on Instagram… Iguana Tacos! Strange? Perhaps...but you see what we mean. Tacos can literally be made of anything you love!

We love getting creative by adding a dash of 1-2 supercharged ingredients to our recipes, and we recently concocted a taco/chili seasoning that packs a serious punch of health (and deliciousness!) to any taco or chili dish. Get those extra nutrients and health benefits wherever you can, right? Supplements can be tough to squeeze in, we know it!  

Our SuperCharged Taco & Chili Seasoning blends beautifully into a simmering chili, a batch of beef & avocado tacos (yes, even iguana tacos if you're feeling adventurous!), a fresh spring green salad, Friday night nachos, etc. etc.! Get creative!

 

INGREDIENTS:

 4 tbsp of Chili Powder
1 tsp Garlic  Powder
tsp Onion  Powder
tsp crushed Red  Pepper Flakes
1/4  tsp Cayenne  Pepper Powder
1 tsp Dried Oregano
tsp Paprika  Powder
2tbsp Ground Cumin  Powder
tsp Sea Salt
tsp Black  Pepper
1 tsp - 2 tbsp Chipotle Chili  Powder
1 tsp - 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
1 - 2 tsp Cacao  Powder
2 tsp - 2 tbsp Surthrival Pine Pollen Powder

 

 

The secret ingredient in this seasoning recipe may surprise you... Pine Pollen powder! We blended Pine Pollen together with turmeric, cacao, and the classic chili & taco spice line-up to create a seasoning blend that's spending way more time in use on our kitchen counter at dinnertime than it is being tucked away in the pantry!

We know, Pine Pollen Powder? How do I fit that into my daily regimen? Throwing it into this savory seasoning is one perfect way to reap the benefits!

Pine Pollen powder adds a nutritive and medicinal boost to an already kickin' blend. We add this powder to smoothies and dishes whenever possible because it offers such a powerful array of bioactive vitamins & minerals. Its energy-restorative and whole-body-rejuvenative effects are just what many of us need as we transition into the spring season, or all year long to get the energy pumping! 

Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory and has been shown to help alleviate the symptoms of arthritis and even be beneficial to those with Alzheimer's disease. Cacao is the superfood in every health nut's pantry — and for good reason! It offers a wide array of health benefits, including improving mood, boosting energy, lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease and more. Cacao is that secret ingredient that no one can quite put their finger on ;) 

 

DIRECTIONS:

Grab a bowl, and combine all ingredients together. Be sure to mix thoroughly to evenly distribute all the spices.

Ready to use in a chili or taco dish? We've found the best ratio to be one pound of grass-fed ground beef to 1 1/2 tablespoons of SuperCharged Seasoning Blend, but you'll want to play around and adjust to your preference! Feel free to leave out some of the spicier ingredients when serving to the kiddos!

Store in an airtight glass container at room temperature and out of direct sunlight to keep seasoning fresh for up to a year. This will beat any grocery store taco pouch by far!
